Default New Standard Keyboards NSK 535 R Keyboard Review

Like all old fads, the alphabetical approach is trying to make a comeback, or at least a partial one. New Standard Keyboards sent us their NSK 535 R, a four row keyboard arranged alphabetically that targets hunt and peckers, or those otherwise unable to type without looking down. Will this new (old?) keyboard deep six the current standard QWERTY arrangement that dominates the desktop landscape today, or is it just another poseur that will sink into oblivion?

Hmmm......

Are you sure Gordon wrote that? I mean....its really good and all. Maybe he used that new keyboard?

One thought though - It seems like a really good keyboard except for its major selling point - the non-QWERTY layout. They might have a seller if they made a wireless QWERTY version. Big keys and portable - I like that!

Sounds like a PITA to me. It has taken me nearly 20 years of typing to get to the point of being able to type while not staring at the keys.

I think this will be a very tough sell to most consumers. It doesn't change ergonomics, which may have convinced some to switch, and it doesn't lend itself to easy transitions from QWERTY boards.

In a world where PowerPoint, Excel and Word documents are generated almost as fast as DUI/DWI tickets by malnourished Hollywood harlets, having to press multiple keys to accomplish the same tasks will turn a lot of folks away.

that dont look like Jokers hand... kidding aside i dont think i'm willing to learn a new set of typing keys... 101 Keyboard is bad enough took me 5 years to minimize looking at keys how much more today if i will learn to use that... but thats innovative though...

That thing looks like one of those toddler's plastic keyboard/piano thingys my sister had when she was like 2yo!

Regardless, very good review!

That was an enhanced version with the help of Paul and I thank him for the help. I don't know why companies keep trying to reinvent the wheel when it comes to keyboard layout but if they incorporated some of their ideas into a standard layout they just might have a winner.
