Default Need Mic, Suggestions?

I need a new mic ,anyone have some suggestions?

i have gone through several headsets, and they just keep seeming to die on me.. all last about 6 months to a year i think.

So i'm thinking this time around, i'm just going to use a mic and keep my external speakers on for my sounds

Edit: I'm looking at this
Newegg.com - Logitech 980186-0403 Silver USB Connector USB Desktop Microphone

The USB one is nice as long as you aren't interested in getting fancy with audio mixing. It does really weird stuff to Windows.

I use the: Newegg.com - Logitech 980240-0403 Black 3.5mm Connector Desktop Microphone

It is awesome.

It's rarely a good idea to go with your speakers for your sound and a mic to record or else you get echo.

... echo.

Yeah, get yourself a decent headset or use headphones when talking on the mic. :)

What is a nice sturdy headset? I keep going through them :( and its annoying!

If i were to use them both at the same time, i would use the push to talk feature (*as i would mostly be using it on vent )

How much are you looking to spend and what are expecting from a headset?
Do you only use it once in a while to chit chat or you need something with super crisp audio to use for gaming and the likes?
I see you mention vent, so I'll assume you will use those to game. I've only heard good things about Razer Barracuda HP-1 "gaming" headset. I know forum member Panda Man has some and he totally loves them. I think he got his from woot.com for a ridiculous price... because yes that's the downside, those cans will run you for at least a hundred US.
Oh, and did I mention they are surround headphones?

Yes i would be using them for gaming, i'm not ultra picky however. my last headphones were logitec i think their 350 series, they worked great for the time but as usual they broke finally. 100 is a bit steep.. i was thinking along the lines of 15-55

Stereo as opposed to 5.1 surround.
Some headphones/headset can connect to USB, analog (preferred), coax or optical to give you a surround sound experience. They pack 3-4 speakers inside each ear (front, center, rear and sub) which could always help finding where someone is hiding hehe.
Actually, I use surround sound a lot in many games, it's much easier to track down people.
What you need: Surround sound card if headset is using analog connections.
For USB, a free USB port. coax and optical is you're using any of both (normally found on higher end sound cards, though I know certain onboard and cheaper cards pack the latter)
Something to note, when connecting using USB you are using the headphones sound card, therefore you need to install their drivers. This can prove to be problematic if you plan to use it on a console or an unsupported OS.

On a more or less related note:
I own some Zalman ZM-RS6F+ (the + sign meaning they come with a mic) and they're very nice BUT the mic that comes with them is a clip on cord sort of mic that totally sucks in my opinion for gaming. There's also comfort being an issue after some time, but that might be me wearing them for just too long. Headsets are very nice overall. Oh and you look goofy wearing them. :P
Good part though, they are dirt cheap considering the pricing on most if not all other surround headphones I could find.
