Default MX1000 Laser Mouse

Does anyone here owns a Logitech MX1000 Laser Mouse?? I had mine since November of last year and had no problems till now. My problem is that the tracking is sluggish or off at times, happens now and then. Tried changing the mouse pad and it worked to a degree but that doesn't fix the annoying problem. Also tried moving the reciever/charging hub in different locations and still no change in performance. Any suggestions to remedy this annoying problem?? Thanks in advance.

You might try clean off the laser. It might have some residue or dirt on there.

Is there anything that is causing your computer to run slow? I cleaning the laser doesn't fix the problem it may be due to system slowdowns (spyware, etc...)

I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.

I own one, but I retired it in favor of a G7 I purchased. IIRC, the scroll wheel started to take a dump before I store it away.

One of the Logitech's strong points is their customer service. Give them a buzz and more likely than not, they'll send you a new unit (without requiring you to send the defective one in).

Also try a different mouse pad? I think I remember seeing some company ( I think X-Trac) had some mouse pads out that the Logitech optical and laser engines didn't like for some reason...

I tried cleaning the laser sensor with canned compressed air, no change in performance. The last 3 days it acted up, but today it is working flawlessly. I really don't know what's up with it. Still using the mouse pad that has a cloth like texture. Previously I had a plastic mouse pad that the MX1000 hated instantly, threw that mess into the garbage can immediatley. Gonna check the pc for spywares and stuff. But it's not like my system is slowing down or anything like such.
