| OK, I've given up on getting a second 19" cheap used monitor for my new system - just cost too much. I was leaning toward the Hanns-G 28" - good price for all the real estate and not bad for gaming. I looked a second time at it in Best Buy, however, and decided it is just too damn big for me - my rig is in the family room, and Hanns-G would be almost as big as our TV! For the money I'm budgeting I'd like to get a 24" screen. What's good/what's bad - any comments, recs, likes/dislikes from owners? | ||||||||||||||

| Newegg.com - SCEPTRE X9WG-NagaV Black 19" 8ms DVI Widescreen HD Ready LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 700:1 Built in Speakers - Retail I have this monitor, but I paid alot less for it than that. I wouldnt buy it at that price, but what I would suggest is going to Costco, or SAMS and seeing what they have as far as monitors or even lcd tv's. You can sometimes find a good bargain there. All you would have to do then is get an dvi to hdmi adaptor for the TV and you would be good to go. I happen to have one of these adaptors and will send it to you if you need one. -1 I would rather read a NewEgg review than a [H] review | ||||||||||||||

| This is the monitor I got, and from what I see the Viewsonic LCDs are a good buy for the smaller sizes (15-22"). Newegg.com - ViewSonic Optiquest Series Q19WB-2 Black 19" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 700:1 Built in Speakers - Retail I originally picked it up for $200 minus 60MIR ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! | Appreciate the offer onebxr, but for now I'm fine. I did run by my local Costco to see what they had - not much. In fact the HannsG 28" model is $499 at Costco (better by $50 than NewEgg). But they didn't have any 24" monitors. Current set up is 1280x1024, and upgrade to 19" widescreen isn't enough for me. I was looking at 22", but think I'm now aiming for 24". Looks like a good Dell is $375 Dell 24" Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor. | ||||||||||||||

| Newegg.com - SAMSUNG 245T-BLACK Black 24" 6ms DVI Widescreen HDMI LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 1500:1 - Retail Samsung has good monitors, I really dont know what you want to spend but if I was buying this is what I would get. From what I have read on these boards and other spots Dell makes a hell of a monitor. -1 I would rather read a NewEgg review than a [H] review | ||||||||||||||

| The Westinghouse (Newegg.com - Westinghouse L2410NM Black 24" 8ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 500 cd/m2 1000:1 Built in Speakers - Retail) gets good reviews and is $350 (post $50 MIR). That's within my sweet spot. Anything much north of $500 is just way to much for me. | ||||||||||||||

| I myself wouldnt buy anything westinghouse put out. I dont know about their computer monitors but their t.v's are crap. I have heard of warranty problems with westy's. I would go with a 1 st teir company that carries a good warranty with their product. An example *note this is for t.v's I dont know how it is for monitors! | if you're not that picky (TN panel or not TN panel) Bestbuy's got a nice Acer X241W 24incher for clearance at 296.99. I just picked one up this past weekend and i love it. Upgraded from a Samsung 216BW 22incher. Acer - 24" Widescreen Flat-Panel LCD Monitor - X241WSD online still shows the original price, but you can use that as a store locater to see if they got any and call them to hold for you. This is a high quality LCD imo, debatable whether its a TN Panel or a VA Panel. | ||||||||||||||

| Thanks for the heads-up. Unfortunately the nearest to me is only 30 miles away but I'd have to drive essentially through NYC from NJ to get there. ugh! Now that I've done a quick review of the difference between TN, VA and ISP panels it looks like 24" VA are outside my price range. Looks like I'll have to go with cheaper TN panel. | ||||||||||||||
