Default Monitor Help/Questions, Advice appreciated!

im really in sort of a jam here, because i have to give up my 22" samsung very soon (dont even worry why, long story), and i need a new monitor.

im not sure how long it will be until i get one, but i have inquiries.

i was offered BENQ FP241VW for $500 BNIB with full warranty, which is an AMAZING DEAL and im TRYING to work as much as i can to be able to grab it at the end of this month, but i have one question.

for example purposes, let's say i have an XBOX 360, and i want to use 1080p but full and correct 1920x1080 format, how can i get this monitor to have the 2 tiny black bars on the top/bottom so its the correct ratio with no stretching? one review i read said this monitor has no hardware scaling, so i dont know if it will do this, unless there is another way.

as much as I'm completely in LOVE with this monitor, this is one important requirement because, eventually, i'll have things set up that need to be in 16:9, or even 4:3/5:4.

so ultimately, i need to know if this monitor can letterbox to 16:9 (thats the most important one). if it somehow can with an external devide such as an XBOX 360, then it's alright, but if it can't, then which monitor efficiently can? sure you can get 1080p with that monitor if it doesnt letterbox, but then 1080 pixels will be stretched across 1200, and that will give some noticeable distortion in quite a few games (like ive seen in GRAW2 and COD3 on my cousin's setup).

thanks!!!

Default Re: Monitor Help/Questions! Pleeeasseeee Help!

Well, according to the Newegg reviews on the FP241VW, it seems to support 1:1 pixel mapping and people have claimed to have used it with their XBox 360. But that is an amazing price on an awesome monitor and hard to turn down for sure. I just bought myself the Gateway FPD2485W and have had a chance to test the 1:1 pixel mapping works with nearly all 16:10 and 4:3 resolutions, but I haven't yet tried it on 16:9 HD resolutions, sorry. I tested the monitor in a Best Buy store and I'll get the screen in front of me early next week, but I don't have any high-definition sources to put into it, sorry.
