| I was wondering if you guys could, one, give me some information on how to choose a good gaming headset, and two, relate your personal experiences with them. I've always gotten by with some ten dollar pairs of headphones. They usually short out (including my most recent pair, which shorted about 3 days ago), and I simply replace them, for they weren't expensive. I realized how much I enjoyed using earphones during games, and I've decided to purchase a nice pair to last me and enjoy. I'm curious as to whether or not the 5.1 headsets are as effective as a 5.1 speaker setup. Is a 5.1 headset worth the money/trouble? I'm also in the middle of a debate on whether I want clunky "over ear" phones or more discrete "on ear" phones. The Razer was looking real good, but I'm skeptical now having read the review and all. I really liked the microphone on the Razer. Anyway, I'm open to any kinds of opinions. |

| Yeah I like headphones in-game more as you can hear the direction of things more clearly. I dont like the in-ear phones though because the over ear is usually better quality and more comfortable to wear |

| what's your budget? for something real cheap, the sennhieser HD-201's sound like most $100+ headphones for $20. will you be doing anything else? if they ever leave the desk, i'd suggest some skull candy's. i have the HD 201's, and i had a set of skull candy GI's, but i abused them and the strap broke. however, after owning them for 4 months, they still are going to replace them |

| Well, the budget is whether or not they are worth the price. There is a limit though. I don't think I'd ever pay more $150 dollars for a set. They'd REALLY have to have something going for them for me to pay more than that. As far as whether or not they'd leave the desk, I think that they'd be solely for my computer; if the set that I decide to get is portable enough, then I'll extend its use. |

| We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | I'm a big fan of Sennheiser products, they are a great balance of budget and quality, making them the best value in my opinion. | Functional Alcoholic | I suggest going to a store where you can try on and listen to several different types of headphones. We are all different, so what sounds good, and feels comfortable to you, may not be the same for someone else. Suggesting a Headset is like suggesting a Keyboard, in the end it comes down to preference. My wife has a $120 wireless headset that she thinks is the best thing since sliced bread. I find them very uncomfortable, and the sound isn't a whole lot better then my $30 set, but she thinks they are worth every penny. So you have to find some that work for you. |

| Yeah, I have trouble finding places to try out equipment. I live in the middle of nowhere. I'll see what I can't do, though. |

| Functional Alcoholic | Just a suggestion, headphones are defiantly something you want to try before you buy. Sure you got a big city somewhere close. |

| We just bought a pair of TurtleBeach Ear Force headphones from the Egg. Had them about a week now, and for $39.00 they are awesome. My only complaint on them would be the controller is a just a little bit too far down the connection wire on them. Going to order another pair sometime this next week. | sennheiser and skull candy have never let me down. i've had prolly 30+ different people use both sets at lan parties, and everyone loved both sets. the skull candies take a bit to break in, but they are A) the most durable headphones i've ever used, and B) sound awesome, and wicked comfy for...most people anyways |
