I have the x-530's and a x-fi extreme gamer, and I have no problems with 5.1 surround sound. Seeing as how the z5500's are a better speaker setup, I wouldnt see why you would have a problem with 5.1 sound. You just need to make sure it is setup correctly in your x-fi settings for 5.1 sound. My little 530's sound pretty good.

Don't think twice about purchasing these speakers. It's well worth the buy. Bass is amazing, sound is clear, has digital inputs and decoders.... It's amazing!

I have one myself and I love it. However, the sound without the sub sounds pretty crappy. These speakers are perfect for bass-heavy fanatics. If you want some clearer audio though, consider Klipsch's ProMedia set. They'll set you back 150 smackeroos, but they sound the best. The only con about them is that they lack digital inputs....

Good luck on your purchase!

I have a cheaper $40 set of 5.1 SoundBlaster speakers with an X-Fi and using winamp and WMP I still get amazing sound through all the speakers. Just make sure that the Creative Audio Console is setup to do this.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

The Logitech Z-5500 speakers have been a favorite for quite some time. I visited the Logitech booth at CES this year and talked a bit with one of the Logitech reps about their new speaker lines. While they have updated nearly every model, the Z-5500's remain unchanged. When I asked him why, he simply said that they work great and people are loving them.

that depends on what signal is coming into the Z5500 control center and the settings in the menu. If you are listening to audio cd you won't get the 5.1 surround sound.

I have an Audigy 2 sound card. I also have the Logitech Z-5300 (They survived the tornado). I've had no issues playing 5.1 sound through these speakers no matter the media. From audio CD to DVD to MP3 to games.

I can only expect the drivers and hardware on the X-Fi to be better and more well rounded than my card and the speakers will certainly handle the input. If you aren't getting full 5.1 sound from your particular sound card, I'd suggest you check your driver settings or other system audio properties.

I recently purchased the logitech z5500's...but theproblem right nowis that the center speaker's sound output shows a huge quality difference from the other satellites...it does not give a clear sound and has a some what distorted sound. Question is: is it suppose to sound that much different from the other ones?, sorry but i dunno how to describe it but bottom line..sounds like sh*t. evrything else i;m satisfied...also i have a x-fi extrememusic sound card and i think it has a digital jack on it...should i spend the money to buy the jack? thx

Money on the jack is optional but highly recommended if you want the clearest audio.
Did you set everything properly in the Creative console?
