yea, we used to have Linksys, its sucked royally, drivers really did anything, the cd barely ever worked for the usb device, and it was slow. I know where you are coming from, you should switch to D-Link, its more user friendly.

This doesn't have much to do with your problem but I thought I would throw in my experience.

I haven't worked with any linksys hardware before. I've used D-Link my whole life and have never had a problem. I recently bought a 16 port switch to add to my LAN Party equipment. It's very fast and pings were at a constant 5 in CS Source. There were no problems or slow downs.

Try logging in. Go to "192.168.1.1" and see if you can login and see if you can flash the firmware. Otherwise if manually resetting the router and modem doesn't help, its dead.

The Linksys WRT54GL is probably the best router ever made. It runs Linux, and there is lots of 3rd party firmware for it. I use: Thibor's HyperWRT page

But if yours is silver I don't think you have one of those.

I have a WRT54GS. It's either the router that sucks or the modem; I'm too lazy to find out which. Only thing I changed was the firmware to one made by Sveasoft (or whatever). It allows you to increase the power of the wireless signal. It helped a bit.
