| Colonel Calamity | 19" 3G GM19WL LCD I am looking to possibly add this to my budget build, and for $100 after rebate, can't beat the price. I do some gaming but it is CS:S and BF2 and such, not the fast racing games or anything like that so ghosting should not be a problem. I saw this deal and immediately was interested as I have been looking for a LCD 17-19" for a good price but not one that will die on me after 6 months. Let this be known, I have NEVER bought a brand new monitor in my life. I bought a 17" once for $50 used but all the rest have been ones that have been found on the side of the road next to the older computer that they're tossing out. Like right now I have a Dell D1028L 17" CRT that was found next to a 333MHz Dell, then I have a 15" AOC, 15" ViewSonic, 16" ProView... all found with other dead/dying computers yet all of them work 100% (well at least 99%). In the last 7 years, there have only been 2 of these that have died (that previously worked) and 2 that were DOA. As for this 19", the specs all check out: Display Monitor Size - 19in. Viewable Size (inches) - 19 Pixel Pitch - .28 mm Maximum Resolution - 1440 x 900 Brightness/Luminance (cd/m2) - 300 Contrast Ratio - 500:1 Response Time - 8ms Video Connector15-pin mini d-sub VGA connector Manufacturer Information Parts Warranty3 years Labor Warranty2 years Warranty DetailsLimited Warranty ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! | Modder-ator | That's a pretty good deal for a 19" widescreen, but the combination of lack of a DVI port and low contrast ratio are two things that (while not crutially debilitating) could be better. but the thing that really makes me not like the monitor is the obsenely low viewing angle. Couple that with the stand that has only tilt adjustments and you have a recipe for distortion. The colors and contrast of this screen will only look good/normal when you are sitting perfect position, otherwise the colors will get distorted and the contast will change and you won't be able to distinguish light colors from each other (they will all look white). A monitor is something you are likely to have for a very long time (at least until the monitor dies), so I say spend an extra $50 - $100 and get a solid monitor you know is going to perform. Plus, I'm not sure if you plan on watching any HD content on your computer, but getting a monitor with HDCP might be a good idea so you don't get screwed when you try to play your first Blu Ray or HD-DVD movie! Finally, also consider the fact that not all games play nice with widescreen resolutions. Check out the Widescreen Gaming Forum for more info on what games support widescreen resolutions well. But most newer games (like CS:S) support widescreen just fine. |

![]() the contrast ratio, I wouldn't be worried about. 500:1 is plenty enough. the lack of DVI is also no problem, the picture quality isn't really better with DVI (my monitor is vga and I love it), so go ahead and get it before it's gone. you deserve a good monitor after all the garbage ones ![]() you could finally have a 1280x1024 resolution and it would nicely compliment the 7900GT you have. $109? don't even think about it - you won't regret it. | I think you should go with more of a brand name, but it's not like this LCD would be complete crap. If you want to keep your used status, buy this open box Viewsonic 19" widescreen... ![]() Newegg.com - Open Box: ViewSonic Q19wb Black 19" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor Built in Speakers - OEM - Core 2 Quad Q6600 - DFI Infinity 975X - 4GB Corsair XMS2 w/ DHX DDR2-800 - 250GB Seagate 7200.10RPM + 160GB Hitachi 5400.4RPM - ATi Radeon X1900XT 256MB - Cooler Master Centurion 5 + OCZ StealthXStream 600W - Acer 19" P191W Monitor - Logitech Z-5500 Digital + Logitech MX Revolution - Vista Ultimate x64 |
