Default IPOD Speakers

I have been put in charge of finding and purchasing an ipod speaker/cdplayer combo for my father in law. I would like for it to sound good and be under 150.00. Anyone have any experiences with these? Any recommendations?

Well usually anything iPod certified or whatever is easily 100+, Really just look for a speaker/CD player system with an input jack.

Another option would to get a cheap set a PC speakers, a CD-ROM drive with headphone jack, and a small mATX/ATX power supply.

I agree with Lead Head. And just because something certified by Apple doesn't mean it's better than anything else. It's a lot of nonsense. You could go with something from a good, non-Apple company such as Creative Labs. It'll cost much less and probably even be better.

I am looking at all brands, not apple specifically. Basically I just want something I can dock ipod to and be done with it. I was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations on anything that would be money well spent. I dont want alot of connections, because unlike us my wifes father likes simple.

My Spanish teacher keeps one in the room (he's literally gay and weird). He's got one by Logitech. They sound great. It costs $150.

I didn't listen to them with audiophileness, but thinking about other Logitech speakers, it's probably going to be the same (highs suck).

My mom got the JBL Portable music box (also available in black) and they sound pretty decent. She just uses a CD player or regular MP3 player though, she doesn't have an iPod. the thing I really like about them though is that they are very compact and the cover slides over the speakers and protects the unit making it extremely durable. If I remember correctly, it is made of aluminum or something, not plastic, so it is a pretty sturdy unit.

Like Lead Head said, it doesn't have to be "Apple Certified" or anything, as long as it has a line in (which all should) you should be good to go

I went to Fry's last Friday and bought some ihome speaker setup. It is for Ipod and has a radio feature. I am not sure how it sounds tho, its not for me, its for my father in law so as long as it plays I will be happy.
Thanks for the help,
