Default Hybrid Hard Drives (THG article)

This is a pretty interesting idea; hybrid hard drives. I think it has potential, but like the article mentioned, it's going to be an interesting market entry and will depend on a lot of different factors. Good read!

I think it's still too early to tell that, but I'm sure the first generation drives will probably be more expensive, especially if they have a larger Flash cache (hehe that rhymes). But like the article said, unless these drives can be had for at or below the cost of current solutions, it will be a slower technology adoption, particularly in the OEM department. But as far as enthusiasts and DIY'ers, there will always be people willing to pay extra for newer, better technology. We'll just have to wait and see. I can see this being the stepping stone to solid state drives though.
