Default How to install second HD for HP DV9010ca

I went shopping for a second drive for my HP Pavilion dv9010ca (9000 series) I found a good deal and luckily I had my laptop with me and decided to take a look and install it at the store. Well it didn't work apparently I need a 45 degree sata connector so the drive can "fall" into place. Anybody has a clue of what I need? I think I would need some sort of brackets as well.

Thanks

Depends on the laptop. Some do, most don't.

frenchie, normally those are proprietary connectors. You might to take a look at digikey.com if you can find a part number or such. It's no easy feat, though.

My next bet is to call HP but I know they want like $40 I was talking to a tech and he told me it's just a scam the drive can fit with the pins going straight in.

At any rate, if you can't find the part on digikey, try eBay too. :)

WOW I just did I contacted HP live chat, the CSR gave me the part number , the cheapest I found is $50, on average it's between $60 to $75. Quite pricy for an adaptor and a caddy.

That's where I got it from. It was lsited at $65 and it had a best offer option, so I managed to get it for $50. That's a bit pricey for what it is.
