Talking How to connect a 30" Monitor

Hi, I recently built a new system and want to attach a 30" monitor to it. I have a Radeon HD2600PRO video card with 512mb.

I have an SLI capable motherboard, an Asus P5N-E.

It appears that you have to make 2 connections to the 30" monitors and that you can do that with both connections on one card, is that right?

I would like to get another identical card and use the SLI to connect 1 connection on each card to the monitor. Would that be a good move?

Thanks,

Rob

SLI is an Nvidia technology, and you have an ATI card, so you can't run dual cards on that motherboard. You'll need a Crossfire capable (ATI's version of SLI) motherboard to run dual ATI cards.

oh, Oops! Right, of course.

So... Would I be better off with any 1 particular powerful card, or to choose 2 new cards of medium power?

No, all you need is a video card that supports dual-link DVI... and yours does. You won't need anything else.

This. You're all set as far as getting an image to the screen, the HD 2600 supports resolutions up to 2560 x 1600. Just connect your card to your monitor with a DVI-D cable, which can be had for around $5-10. That should do it.
Atleast for displaying images, that card is going nowhere for gaming at that resolution.

I have no interest in gaming except for scrabulous.com and I just want it to be without noticeable slowness.

But my main question is not being answered... for 'good' (not gaming) performance, should I really stick with what I have?

Also, I am deliberating between the Gateway 30" monitor and a Dell 30" but apparently there is such a performance difference that I will save up for the Gateway.
