Default Was going to get the Logitech Z-5450 but .........

Was going to get the Logitech Z-5450 but after reading some reviews on newegg from users I guess I'll have to get the 5500s.
Question?
I have the Logetech X530s,
Now has anyone gone from the 530s to the 5500s???
I'm wondering how much of a difference I'll see? Iv never been a big music person so I don't have a sound card I'm using on board sound from my Asus premium board it's 7.1
Or would getting the 5500's with out a sound card like the xfi xmusic not be much of an improvement.
I can get the XFI xtreamMusic for 100 if I need to but i want to be able to hear a big difference if I'm going to dish out the cash.
If you have any experience with this would love some feedback.
Thanks........................

I haven't owned the 530s but I do own the 5500s. IMO, these are good speakers Cap'N - very loud, good sound, and thumping bass. I'm probably the only person in the world with this viewpoint, but I actually perfer them to the Klipsch 5.1 Ultras, which I used to own.

As for the difference over the 530s and with or without a soundcard, that's really going to depend on your ears. No doubt about it, these speakers benefit from a solid card such as the X-Fi. Music sounds better, game effects are excellent (EAX), and movies/videos are a notch above. Will it be a "big difference" in your ears over the onboard? I'm not going to say 'yes,' but I will say that a high end computer speaker set deserves a high end sound card to really take advantage of what they can offer.

Yeah, Paul has some good points. This is a pretty subjective topic so it will be hard for us to tell you straight up how it is one way or another, but I will tell what I think/know.
I have the Z-640's which are pretty similar to the 530's and they sound pretty good, even testing with the X-Fi. Even comparing the 530's and the 5500's with on-board sound, you will notice a difference, but the only problem is that you won't be able to fully tap into the potential of the 5500's with on-board sound. It will be a nice improvement in the short term until you can get a good sound card. I will also say that you will probably notice a bigger difference by going from the 530's to the 5500's with onboard sound than you would going from on-board sound to a nice sound card. So I say get the speakers now (since they are the most expensive part anyway) and then get the sound card later on when you have enough and/or think you are ready for it.

If your looking for quality, go with the Z-2300s they have the best QUALITY, but if you want sourround sound, the 5500s are great
