| Considering I get a 50% discount off of all Logitech products, I'm eyeing both of these products (both of which I'd get for $50 each). I was wondering, the media buttons on the G15... Will it only work for that specific app. Say I'm playing a full screen game and playing music and want to change the song... will it change or does iTunes have to be the focused app? I've already messed around with my bro's MX Revolution and loved it... Any thing I should look out for? - Core 2 Quad Q6600 - DFI Infinity 975X - 4GB Corsair XMS2 w/ DHX DDR2-800 - 250GB Seagate 7200.10RPM + 160GB Hitachi 5400.4RPM - ATi Radeon X1900XT 256MB - Cooler Master Centurion 5 + OCZ StealthXStream 600W - Acer 19" P191W Monitor - Logitech Z-5500 Digital + Logitech MX Revolution - Vista Ultimate x64 |

| You get a discount on all Logitech products? How? I have heard the G15 is awesome, but can't really say much, haven't owned one myself. | I have a g15, and the first thing I have to say is that the LCD screen is more trouble than it's worth, personally. But again, I'm still new to the coding. You have to download/create any kind of applet that runs on the screen. I really haven't bothered getting an applet for any of the games I play. I primarily run the lcd in conjunction with PCWizard, to read my cpu temp without iconizing (speaking of which, I'm looking for a way to edit pcwizard to read the gpu temp on the lcd). But with the exception of the LCD, I love my keyboard. Love the backlit keys, and mostly of all, the g keys. 3 tiers of 18 keys that are fully programmable -- even on the fly. Assign a shortcut to the key, a full fledged macro, single keys, and others. But, the g keys don't really give you anything that another macro program wouldn't. The anti cheat program that runs along with Lineage II seems to cancel the macro abilities though. Seems a lot of games are going the way of punkbuster and such programs. The keyboard has two usb ports at the back, and a novel switch to turn off the windows key. Has nifty media controls and volume. I think that the brightness could be a little brighter, being it's now beside a Razer Copperhead. Kind of dwarfs the light from the keyboard. But anyway, I'm not trying to sell you. Just mentioning what I like. How about I start buying things through you? ^^. And props for not working at Best Buy! Last edited by NoctisReitop; August 6th, 2007 at 22:11. |

| But would it change a song while being in a full-screen game like I said? - Core 2 Quad Q6600 - DFI Infinity 975X - 4GB Corsair XMS2 w/ DHX DDR2-800 - 250GB Seagate 7200.10RPM + 160GB Hitachi 5400.4RPM - ATi Radeon X1900XT 256MB - Cooler Master Centurion 5 + OCZ StealthXStream 600W - Acer 19" P191W Monitor - Logitech Z-5500 Digital + Logitech MX Revolution - Vista Ultimate x64 |

| HL's Technomancer | I have a G15, and you can use all the play functions ingame without the program being active. The problem is, I can only get full functionality in WMP, in Winamp and VLC only the volume option works. I find the backlit keys to be bright enough to see the keys, but they are quite dim in all but a almost completely dark room: Heres a quick snap of the G15 with the room light on, quick enough that I didn't take the wrist strap off first ![]() The keyboard is MASSIVE, almost 2 feet long. Heres another of the backlights with the light off: ![]() The keys are dim, and thats the highest setting (it has two brightness modes). But you can see the keys clearly and they're not a distraction so it works just fine. After having backlit keys I won't go back to another board. The G15 is an excellent board, well made and I've been abusing this thing since December and it works just like it did when I took it out of the box. The G keys are great for MMOs, as you can have a 3 different configurations of 18 keys for one profile. So if your playing a game with your tank, then load up your archer, you don't have to go back to the software and switch around profiles. Just hit the M1, M2, M3 keys. The Macro key I've never used, but its there to set up configs ingame. The USB ports are only 1.2, but work well with gamepads and joysticks and such. I never really used the switch but you can if you find yourself hitting the windows key alot. I probably sound like a Logitech rep now but theres a lot of good in this board. I say jump on it, especially with that discount. The closest thing I've seen to match with the G15 is the Saitek Eclipse, but the G15 offers alot more. Try and get the model that has the multimedia buttons without the LCD screen. I don't use the screen at all, its really pointless and takes up more room when it folds back. The Revolution mouse, I've used it at a friends and don't like it. It has good tracking, but is uncomfortable to hold for over an hour and all the buttons tend to get in the way. Its good for running office apps and not having to jump around on the keyboard, but for games go for the G5 or G7 laser mouse. Cheaper and better for long gaming sessions. |

| Itunes, MediaLife, MusicMatch, RealPlayer, Sonique, Winamp, and WMP 9.0+ are the default media players that the LCD has compliance with. Anything other than that and you'll need to download/write an applet to communicate with it. The volume and the play, forward, back, stop, pause are all generic, and will work with all media players that support a multimedia keyboard -- If I'm not mistaken. |

| HL's Technomancer | Only the volume, and it works universally across any device that has a volume button(s). For the Play/Pause and those, you have to have the right driver/applet to communicate to that player. I figured you could download an applet, but I'm lazy and WMP is my default right now since Winamp borks up in Vista. The playlist in the LCD panel still shows whatever song is playing despite the player being used. |

| Just speaking from my own experience, a friend of mine has this exact same setup that he bought from...Circuit City...imagine that Oo. But anyhoo, it's really a sweet keyboard for gaming, especially FPS. I used it to play a few rounds of 2142 when he first bought it and I was sold. I'd have a G15 if the wife didn't buy me my Razer Tarantula last year. As for the Revolution, it's probably one of the most comfortable mice I have ever used. Again, I have a Razer Diamondback, which I'd prefer over the Revolution for gaming, but for all around apps and productivity I'd take the MX. It's much easier to recommend a keyboard than it is a mouse since so much of your mouse choice really depends of what you're primarily using it for, and it's really a matter of preference. I say you go to work, bust a few different mice out of their blister packs and test 'em out. Then you'll know for sure.
