Default Bose QuietComfort 2 or 3?

My dad has some sort of rewards thing with his credit card, and the only good things in their online catalog are Bose QuietComfort 2 and Bose QuietComfort 3 noise canceling headphones

So far all I can tell is the QC3 has more advanced technology, and smaller headphones (they don't fully wrap around your ears) whereas the QC2 has older technology, but wraps around your ears.

Does anyone here have experience with one or both of these headphones? I'm gonna head down to the local Mac store {*shudder...* I never thought I'd say that} and try them out, but I'd like some 3rd party input too.

:P

I don't have any experience with those particular headphones, but I'll tell you honestly that there's no noise cancelling headphones that can compare to a good pair of cans standard open cans. Noise cancelling headphones are great to use in public places (bus, metro, train etc) but if you're planning on listening to them in the comfort of your quiet bedroom, you will find that they are lacking.

I'm gonna use them on the bus and while in car (not driving of course, as a passenger) and on the plane. I've got a nice set of Logitech Z4-i speakers to listen in-home :P

Ah but maybe one day you'll hear the difference between good headphones and the best speakers around. Nothing compares to a good pair of Seinheiser's or Grado's.

I can't vouch for any Bose headphone product though. Haven't tested their noise cancelling lines. Sorry.
