Default Any Audiophiles around?

Hi I was wondering is someone could provide a suggestion for a sound card for my rig ... im not wanting to spend more then a few hundered buck on it ... but i am keen on a well respected and performing sound card that has a good DAC and has a great quality in its bass.

If you aren't willing to spend the big bucks on professional grade stuff, look through these.

Not sure if you're looking to record your band in the garage or just play back awesom sounds from videos and games.

Thanks for all that info quakindude, that was a huge help ..... i guess it would be cool to make recordings through my computer ... i make websites on the side and have been thinking about recording basic tunes from my guitar or piano that i could use as a looped tracks for websites, just options for clients.

For this do u think i should avoid the Creative range of sound cards and go for something a little more professional like from the cdrecording software website link u sent me?

have u used this kind of hardware before?

Also is there a good piece of hardware i could plug my electric guitar into and it gives me a good range of effects and distortions ?
