| That's crazy expensive... I wonder if the more rugged chips are really that much more expensive than what sandisk is offering. I guess that price could be worth it for some people... but still, it'd be so easier to buy 2 16 gig cards or something similar (unless it's an application where you can't swap the cards... hmmm). Defiantly seems like a niche product, for now, especially compared to sandisk's offering. | ||||||||||||||

| This is actually really intriguing as to why it would cost so much more... is there anything that i'm missing that makes this product twice as good as the other one, considering they are the same size? Am i missing something, or is everyone? lol | ||||||||||||||

| I have no idea why they are starting the price at this high of a level, pricing on SanDisk's new offerings start at $100 for the 8GB Ultra II Plus, $180 for the 16GB Ultra II, and $350 for the 32GB Ultra II. The 16GB and 32GB Ultra II SDHC cards also come packaged with a SanDisk MicroMate USB 2.0 Reader, which SanDisk states is a $20 value. You have the choice: SanDisk $350 Panasonic $700 ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. | ||||||||||||||

| Really, the major difference I saw is that the panasonic is rated at a wide range of temperatures... compared to standard sd cards. I don't think the article actually said what the sandisk card was rated at. | ||||||||||||||

| Read/write speed. For a card to be certified Class 4 it needs to read/write at 4MB/s and up. For a card to be certified Class 6 it needs to read/write at 6MB/s and up. Sandisk 32GB SDHC is Class 4 certified, read and write "up to" 15MB/s (burst) under optimal conditions and 4MB/s sustained minimum. Panasonic 32GB SDHC is Class 6 certified, read and write "up to" 20MB/s (burst) under optimal conditions and 6MB/s sustained minimum. Wider range temperature also makes this card somewhat more polyvalent. ![]() If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you? | ||||||||||||||

| I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.
| "It also states, since this 32GB card is manufactured using industrial-grade memory, the RP-SDV32GU1K can withstand a wider range of temperatures; -13 F to 185 F as opposed to 32 F to 158F of typical consumer-grade SDHC media." Looks to be a hit with wealthy Eskimos. | ||||||||||||||

| guess those snow photographers will appreciate this... but for the rest of us, that 2 or 3MB real speed difference is not worth twice the price. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. | ||||||||||||||
