| i need to find "the best possible monitor in 24" and 30" size" so a customer can pick which one to buy with a system im building him (its actually my dad's very good friend; i cant screw up). ive REALLY been looking closely at.. 24" DELL 2407FPW (my favourite BY far) Samsung 244T LG L246WP 30" DELL 3007WFP-HC Samsung 305T (my favourite SO far) Apple 30" Cinema Display HP LP3065 (quite pricey, but awesome quality) thus far im not sure which to choose from either category. im almost sure i want to tel him the DELL, but ive been getting mixed reviews for samsung vs dell in that sense (both from people and online reviews). the LG i personally thing is both esthetically and image quality-wise pleasing. the 30" is where it gets confusing. the DELL 3007WFP-HC is supposed to be a weaker monitor in its line-up, with only one DVI port..thats it...while its younger 24" (not to mention 27") brother has an unworldly amount of inputs. the Samsung 305T has a good number of inputs and is said by most to at least match (if not exceed) the DELL's quality. the Apple has just got awesome reviews all the time, and the HP is getting rave reviews too (just expensive!). |

| We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | I've got two Dell Wide Screens, best monitors I've ever used......and although Dell customer service sucks I would definitely recommend the 2407FPW over the other options INTEL E8400 // Gigabyte EP45 Extreme // 4GB DDR3-1600 // Palit HD 4870 // Antec 1200 // Seagate 750GB HDD // Zalman CNPS9700 // BFG ES 800W PSU |

| alright that sounds good. on the 30" end then? im apparently required to give them one model from each size category. im leaning towards the Samsung 305T for the 30"...not sure though. unfortunately, the HP is INSANELY overpriced, at almost $400 more than the dell, but the Samsung is a nice $100 below the Dell. |

| We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | Like I said, Dell monitors are probably the best around, great performance and value INTEL E8400 // Gigabyte EP45 Extreme // 4GB DDR3-1600 // Palit HD 4870 // Antec 1200 // Seagate 750GB HDD // Zalman CNPS9700 // BFG ES 800W PSU |

| is there anything that can be added to the DELL 3007WFP so it can be connected to the computer and do an XBOX 360 at the same time? a.k.a. the component inputs that come on its little brothers. also..what do you think about the 27" monitors? @the same res as the 24" only thing im afraid of is it looking very pixelated...the culprit will be roughly 3-5 feet away from the monitor at all times, and im not sure about the 27" (im thinking its a similar scenario as the one regarding 20" and 22" being at the same res, but with 27" being even one more inch difference, im not sure what to expect and i dont want to urge them to buy it then have it turn out crappy). i cant afford any returns here as they need the parts really soon, and apparently it has to be good on arrival they can't (or just don't want to for whatever reason) return it. | Modder-ator | The Gateway FPD2485W is a great option. It is fully featured like the Dell (with all the inputs and stand adjustments) as well as a reasonable price and the 1:1 pixel mapping actually works! The BenQ FP241WZ is also a very nice monitor in addition to the Samsung screens. If you ask me, the 27" screens aren't really that suitable for your typical "on the desktop" type computer monitor. They have a .303mm pixel pitch, which is the biggest of any typical computer monitor compared to only .27mm on the 24". To give you an idea, the pixel pitch of a 19" widescreen is .285mm and a 20.1" 1600x1200 screen has about a.25mm pixel pitch. The 27" is just too big to sit right in front of. I think it is more suitable for watching movies or something from a distance, more like a TV than a computer monitor. Even a 24" screen is physically quite large to have sitting right in front of you at an arms length (although the smaller pixel pitch of the 24" screen keeps the images sharper but the text smaller). I've sat in front of a Dell 24" monitor at typical arms length away on a desk and the text was small, but readable. Any farther than that away and it starts to get a little more strenuous on the eyes. If you are going to be 5 feet away, then a 27" screen might be better. But if you don't want to spend that much, your next best bet would be a 22" widescreen or 19" widescreen as they have the next highest pixel pitches. | i like that gateway a lot and its cheapppp! problem is no canadian retail sellers carry it... as for the benq i think its the favourite cuz it seems so close (if not maybe better in qual) than the dell PLUS hdmi, which is really good! also, however, the price is over $100 more than the dell. im probably gonna end up recommending them the dell for the 24" if they DONT request hdmi (if so, BENQ it is), and the Samsung for the 30". sound alright? |
