| Hello everyone, I am in the market for a decent 22" lcd monitor to upgrade my old 19" samsung lcd. I mostly need the real estate space for CAD usage. I have narrowed down my choices to either the Acer AL2216WBD or the Samsung 226BW monitors. Which of the 2 do you think is the better choice?? | Just my preference but so far I've liked the pictures on Samsung's monitors. But then again your just going to fall asleep on the job anyway so it shouldn't matter. | ||||||||||||||

| Both would give you a very good picture in my opinion. I've owned the AL2216WBD myself and it's a very nice monitor. The specs are relatively the same, the Acer has a wider horizontal viewing angle which should be a good thing for anyone. Something else, the Samsung one integrates this software technology to "enhance" contrast. It's never a very good thing to enable those options if you need precise colors. The Samsung one has a 2ms refresh rate compared to 5ms for the Acer. At this point, in CAD, you won't see a difference. You would only technically see this difference with high motion video/games, then again it'S somewhat debatable. It's up to you. Personally I think the AL2216WBD would be just fine for your needs. ![]() If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you? | ||||||||||||||

| thanks for the replies everyone, I know there are lots of different brand/specs monitors out there. Right now base on my tight budget, I have to get a barebones no frills big monitor that is adequate for my work/browsing/entertainmet needs. I have already ordered the Acer 22" monitor and should be getting it sometime next week. One question I have though............the native resolution on the Acer is 1680x1050, can the videocard on my lappy push that much res?? or does the Acer comes with drivers to allow the comp to push that resolution??. | Depending on the age of the laptop, it should normally support it... even integrated cards. I'd say any laptop in the last year or two should be just fine. - Core 2 Quad Q6600 - DFI Infinity 975X - 4GB Corsair XMS2 w/ DHX DDR2-800 - 250GB Seagate 7200.10RPM + 160GB Hitachi 5400.4RPM - ATi Radeon X1900XT 256MB - Cooler Master Centurion 5 + OCZ StealthXStream 600W - Acer 19" P191W Monitor - Logitech Z-5500 Digital + Logitech MX Revolution - Vista Ultimate x64 | ||||||||||||||
