| im buying one of them very soon. it boils down to these (or something similar in price). im almost sure the ViewSonic has 8-bit panel. its simple. which is the best quality? thats what it comes down to. if the LG has an 8-bit panel ill almost immediately go for it. 2000:1 AR and 5ms is just insane. or the VSonic VX2030WM the wide range of adjusting available on it is extremely attractive! i think thats the one to go for if 8-bit checks out. im not sure though, which is ultimately why i started this thread! 20" ViewSonic VX2030WM ^!height adjustable!^ LG L204WTX Samsung SyncMaster 205BW 22" BenQ FP222W ACER AL2223WD looks like it boils down simply to the fact of the LG having an 8-bit panel. im not sure though; there are other 20" WS LCDs on the site. the BenQ FP202W (also on the site) i 100% know has an 8-bit panel, but it hasnt been getting the best reviews. thanks!!! | TrustedReviews - BenQ FP202W - 20in Widescreen Monitor the 20" sister is 8-bit, so i think i can be sure the 22" is as well, can't i? "One thing that BenQ has definitely done right is that it hasn’t sacrificed quality in order to achieve a low response time – while some manufacturers have resorted to 6-bit panels to get the response time as low as possible, the FP202W uses an 8-bit panel, producing the full 16.7 million colours." |

| 5 Minute Mod Man | all those look tempting... maybe if I get around to selling a bunch of my computer parts that are laying around, I might be able to afford a couple of those.... I still think widescreens are overrated, so Ill probably pick up a couple less expensive standard proportion ones when I get a chance... regardless, I am envious of your upcoming purchase. |

| T-Rex | LG contrast ratios aren't really what they say. Don't you find surprising you can buy a 2000:1 LG widescreen at the same price of a 1000:1 other brand widescreen? How come they can offer such low prices? Weirdly enough, their monitors are always twice the contrast ratio of other same price panels... They're enhanced with a "software" technology, read more on that at this link LG LCD Monitors to Feature 2000:1 Contrast-Ratio - It is said to be the highest in the industry - Softpedia |

| hm alright so ill keep that in mind for the LG. looking at the BENQ FP202W and FP222W for the 202W (20") its said to be an 8-bit panel on that review i posted. however, on newegg's site it says "16.7M with dithering" for the colors section in the description. as for the 222W (22") one customer claimed "When I look closely, I can see static and fuzziness from the dithering. But that comes with all 6-bit panels." however, for this model, it just says "16.7M" in the colors section. im confused....! |

| Modder-ator | I'm not sure about the 8-bit vs 6-bit panels, but I just want to point out that 20" widescreen monitors are going to be harder to read than the 21" or 22" screens (they all have the same resolution). I would not suggest a 20" widescreen because the pixel pitch is so small that text and stuff is going to look very small, especially from a bit of a distance. A 21" or 22" screen will be much easier on the eyes and have better viewing at a distance. |
