Default 1-4GB USB 2.0 Flash Drives - Choices, choices

I am in the market for a new 1-4GB USB 2.0 flash drive. I am basically looking for anything that is over 1GB or higher in capacity, uses SLC (Single-Level Cell) flash chips, has decent read/write speeds and is under $100 shipped.

The ones that I am looking at are:

Corsair FlashVoyager 2GB, also in 4GB flavor.

Kingston DataTraveler II Plus Migo Edition 1GB

Kingston DataTraveler Elite 2GB

Transcend JetFlash 110 1GB

Memina Pocket Rocket 1GB

You can find an article that pits some of these drives against each other at THG's website, by clicking HERE. If anyone has any other suggestions of USB flash drives other than what I have listed here, please share. =)

Id say go for the kingston or corsair.

But, you could always get this and this, cheaper, 10x the storage capacity, faster transfer rates and almost as portable

Aye, I considered a setup like this. However, I was not too keen on the HD aspect of it as I am a pretty active individual and didn't want the delicate moving parts of the HD being bounced around and such, which is why I was leaning more towards a solid state flash device.

Most HDs including laptop HDs can usually handle around 350 no operation Gs. Ive dropped HDs from 4 feet onto hardwood floors and they still worked fine afterwards. Plus solid state disks tend to only have so many read/write cycles

I'd go for the 4 gig one. I have a 1 gig and it would be nice to be able to store more info on it.

It is my understanding that it would depend on whether the device is a SCSI, ATA or SATA flash disk.

More info.

I would recommend the one I got if you are able to find it. It's a Samsung MightyDrive 1GB. I bought it for $24 from the tigerdirect outlet store in raleigh. When I benched it I was surprised, it had a 23MB/s read/write average! Check out the thread in the benchmarking section.
