Default XP Pro Error Message

Within the last two weeks I've been getting two error messages.
At shut down:
DW20.EXE DLL
DLL initialization failed because the Windows station is shutting down.

Then at restart:
RTHDCPL.EXE - Illegal System DLL Relocation
The system DLL user 32.dll was relocated in memory. The application will not run properly. The relocation occurred because the DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\HHCTRL.OCX occupied an address range reserved for Windows system DLLs. The vendor supplying the DLL should be contacted for a new DLL.

I haven noticed any problems with programs running, but then again I haven't used much besides my browser and email. Any ideas???

Thats supposedly an MS Office problem, try using the repair feature if you have Office installed.

If you don't its a virus/malware problem, run your anti-virus and spyware apps

The only thing that stands out about DW20.exe DLL, is that DW could mean Dr. Watson, which is the Windows internal debugger. RTHDCPL.exe is the RealTek High Definition Control Panel, so try re-installing your audio drivers.

EDIT: From what I can tell, it is MS Office, conflicting with your RealTek drivers. Either try updating your audio drivers to the newest version from RealTeks site, or go to start >>> run >>> msconfig then click the start up tab, and uncheck RTHDCPL.exe, and hit apply.

Capper:
Ran BitDefender full system scan, deep system scan, spyware scan, memory scan, rootkit scan. All clean. AdAware and Windows Defender scans were also good.

Will try Lead Head's suggestion, but I don't have MS Office on this machine; I'm using Open Office.

I get the error message that you get at bootup. I recently got it after doing a Win Update with the Malicious tool removal and some security update.

I dont like malicious tools...

Re-loaded sound driver and all is well now. Strange that it suddenly would become problematic. Glad it was such an easy fix - Thanks a bunch!!!

Same solution for you TTPete?
