| It's that day of the month again and the Windohs update is in. This month though, while it was installing the updates my Norton AV flashed up a warning about this. As usual, Norton has spotted it and dealt with but where did it come from? Anybody else had this hassle with this month's updates? I'd hate to think they are shipping it with the updates but, this is Microsoft after all. ![]() ![]() | ||||||||||||||

| I'd trust Microsoft before I'd ever trust Norton. If it really was a Trojan, and not just part of the installation package, it had to have come from somewhere else. ![]() I'd have thought MS would be the last company on earth anyone would trust. As for Norton, I've been a fan since the early DOS 3.1 days with Norton Utilities and, although it's all run by Symantec these days, I thought it still carried a good reputation. Just seems strange that it should happen then plus the only stuff I've downloaded in days are WU's from the various projects you can see in my sig and I wouldn't think they were the source. Never mind, it was caught and dealt with, but I'd still be interested in the response to my points above. If you learn something new every day you've got to be a wiser man. ![]() Thanks for the response Carl ![]() ![]() | |||||||||||||||

| I'm Diggin it!
| Norton has had a reputation for bloating their software and slowing down systems, but certainly not a reputation as a bad A/V package. They've consistently ranked quite well over the years. If you do a custom install and don't use the automatic updates for Norton's, and make sure you've got all timed events turned off, Norton's works very well.
