I'm pretty sure that the Admin. of the forum wouldn't want that info passed on the forum even if someone has it.

Welcome to the forum.

You can get your own legal copy here. But to answer your question, yes. I've been using Vista (legally) for months. It's not really worth your time though, except to cure your curiousity streak. It's very unstable and disappointing.

I agree 100% with everything posted.
For legal reasons we can't and won't do things like post serial numbers or hacks to get around doing the right thing.
Vista is still basically a mess, and if its publically released in anything like its current state, I'll continue to use XP Pro, or Linux

So will I. I'm sure as heck not paying for a half-butted OS like Vista. Perhaps Vienna will be better, but I'm not holding my breath. Perhaps Vienna will be like XP to Me. It's pretty sad that M$ already started their new OS after Vista before they released Vista.

Tell us some more about your problem and we'll do our best to help you. Post your specs and exact details of when the installations fail.

And BTW, welcome to the forums

okay thanks. Let me see. First off i moved my comp out of my room for a few days and then when i moved it back my wireless screwed up. no matter what i did it wouldn't work. so i went for a format and then when i cleared the drives and tried the install it wouldn't install correctly (this was with xp pro) parts of it won't install even though the disc worked with one of my other computers ( i've actually tried several discs) then i tried ubuntu which wouldn't read properly either even though it worked with a different computer AGAIN =.= something is messed with my comp

forgot specs

Three things come to my mind first:
  • The hard disk may be the problem. Run a full format (as opposed to quick). If that doesn't help, install another HDD if you can and see if it works then. If it does, then run chkdsk /r /f on the 80GB Seagate drive.

The optical drive may either be in need of a good cleaning or may be broken. Stick another one in if you can.

One or more of your devices may be defective, thus causing the installation to freeze while installing device drivers. Reading through your post, I inferred that your wireless card may be defective. Remove it and try again.

yah i was thinking that either my hard drive or cd drive is messed up. I'm planning to go buy another harddrive to test it out. And for the optical one, this computer i'm using right now has one, but it's really old.. i'm not sure if it'll be compatabile
