See if you're legit like me, that's stuff you don't really care.
I stole a legit key, that's what I mean.

But yeah, privacy seems to be hard to keep these days. It gets me worried sometimes. I hate it sometimes I get jobs to re-install a computer, people don't want to lose their stuff so we can't re-install windows. We choose a board with a compatible chipset, to be almost sure the Windows XP will restart w/o problem (think VIA all in 1) and upon starting the Windows it detects that the hardware ID changed so it asks to re-activate the Windows. Problem here, the network driver is rarely installed (duh) so you need to call them. Most of the time I just say "We changed the motherboard" and they'll let me re-activate it, but other times it's really a pain and try to catch me with questions like "Is this the only computer with this Windows?". All in all, don't replace your mobo and boot like that, format everything. :P

I wouldn't let it install weather my copy was pirated or not, that's one more process that I absolutely do not want running.

WGA is only the activeX for French users, the thing that pops up in your taskbar ain't arrived yet.

I don't really care whether I have legit or pirate. I hate installing anything Microsoft puts out other than Windows itself.

well, when you have two test benches like me...and are constantly swapping out parts....its a real pain in the ass to be calling Pakistan every day.
I've been toying around with Windows Vista (Don't care for it so far) and Fedora Core the last couple of days

I figure if windows requires an update right after installing, then the software is buggy as heck and shouldn't be 'out there'. That was the biggest reason I didn't upgrade to XP for darn long. Why should I pay thru the nose for a piece of crap?

My daughter wanted XP on her system REAL bad, but didn't want to pay for it. I wasn't going to shell out another $200 (this is canuckastan, remember) so she installed my XP on her system. Then she updated.

Heehee, her system was shut down on the spot becasue she was running a 'stolen' copy.
