| I'm curious to know when you guys think Windows Vista will be as 'stable' and relatively 'bug-free' as Windows XP is. Do you think three months will do the trick? How about six months? A year? I would say between 6-8 months myself, but what do you guys think? | ||||||||||||||

| Everyone pretty much agrees about 6 months. We've actually discussed the before. Also note that no OS will ever be bug-free. ![]() Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 Conroe @ 2.80GHz Cooler Master GeminII - Thanks Rich and HL! | I realize this, which is why I offset the words bug-free and stable in quotation marks in my inital post in this thread. =) | ||||||||||||||

| Na, Me was probably the worst of the worst But as most everyone agrees, I would think somewhere in the 6 to 8 month time frame. I would imagine that we are looking at about 6 months for the service pack 1 upgrade to be available. | ||||||||||||||

| The time has come for Revenge of the Nerds!
| Just depends on how quickly the hardware and software manufacturers can fine tune their drivers for the new operating system. I would guess roughly 6 months, give or take, and would hope that most companies would be prepared by the time DX10 gaming hits the scene. | ||||||||||||||

| I'm Diggin it!
| I've been running Vista for a couple days now (dual boot via two drives). I love the GUI. Haven't tried any games yet though. Just been poking around the innards for the most part. Has been very stable so far. | I agree that 6 months and a service pack should do the trick, but as to which version of Windows was the most stable, I would have to say Windows 95. It doesn't do much by today's standards, but it was a revolutionary product (at least as far as Microsoft's desktop standards go). It introduced the Start menu, and ran nearly flawlessly. It was simple, but more advanced than Win3.1 and below, which were nowhere near Win95's interface and were very unstable (especially Win1). To be completely honest, I was using Windows 95 on my laptop until it finally died about two months ago ![]() ![]() | ||||||||||||||
