READ MORE: http://news.com.com/Vista+wont+show+...3-6060700.html Windows Vista plans to offer you spiffy new graphics, as long as you're not a pirate. I don't know whether to be happy or sad. Vista doesn't look very attractive right now. ![]() I Like Watercooling. D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220

Someone will hack it I'm sure but who needs Vista anyway? I don't need a power hungry OS when XP works good enough for games and linux works just fine for everything else.

| We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | I honestly think you're going to see more and more people go the open source route....XP was M$'s best OS yet.....but even still Windows is a huge resource hog and the prime target of viruses and hackers...... I really hope that we'll see better driver support and gaming options for open source OS' INTEL E8400 // Gigabyte EP45 Extreme // 4GB DDR3-1600 // Palit HD 4870 // Antec 1200 // Seagate 750GB HDD // Zalman CNPS9700 // BFG ES 800W PSU |

If linux ever gets support for all the games and a good system for updates and installing apps then I'll never use anything else.

Oh for sure. If linux gets support for games i am surely going to switch. I just don't want to pay for it. Linux needs to be more user friendly too, i don't like using a command interface to install stuff. ![]() I Like Watercooling. D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220

Yea thats my biggest problem with it. I use a command line rarely so linux is a pain. Redhat's update is so so but if the linux community really wants more people they have to have a better way to install things. For all it's faults windows makes it easy to install and remove programs.

Some how I just felt that Microsoft is up to something evil. There was a debate between me and some pc geeks on what is required to run Vista, one the graphic specs has to be that of a high end gamer rig and second, lots of memory. Most stated that 1GB of RAM is over kill for XP, hog wash I say!!!!! For Vista memory requirement to run smooth without snags, 2GB should cut it, but then again I could be wrong. As for pirated OS, I don't know if they run smoothly and all cuz I went the legal way and buy them to save the headache that I hear is often associated with pirated Windows.

Vista will run on machines that are not top end Django but you won't get all the frills that way.
