Default Vista SP1

Hey guys, I apologize for vanishing. Been busy here around the house and I've only been able to slip in on occasion to read a little, then I'd go get lost in a game. Anywho.

I could never get SP1 to show up after March 18th, no matter what drivers I updated. Still not showing up after April 18th, when it was to be pushed. This is annoying me a great deal, and I am fearful of downloading the huge installer from Microsoft's site because I don't want it to be a waste of time and end up messing everything up.

But I've read it never showed up for some people and they downloaded from the site and all ended welll.

Kinda torn. What should I do?

Just a guess, but I think it may be the drivers for your Audigy SE, as they are not fully compatible with Vistas new sound API and function through a workaround. Try uninstalling the drivers and using onboard sound to see if it'll download SP1.

... I honestly never though about that. Thank you! I'll give that a shot right now.

Make sure you have all the updates installed. Also, have you used vlite to strip the installation by chance?

personally if it doesn't show up, then its prob detecting some hardware doesn't have the driver signed for SP1. I know i put SP1 on my laptop back in feb with no issues whatsoever, but my desktop had so much problems with it, mainly due to nVidia's shotty drivers for 9000 series card, kept gettin the nvidia display BSOD, so i just uninstalled it till nvidia fixes them

(thanks blake!)

one option would be to look for vista audigy drivers by "daniel_k" and see if that helps. This is the guy that got in trouble for making creative's drivers work properly with Vista

Thanks HL and Corsair!
