Default Vista has been delayed to January

I don't know if you guess have read this but here ya go:
Quote:
Vista has been delayed, again, until January.

Between now and then, 60% of the code for the consumer version of Vista will have to be rewritten.

This is not your typical delay. This is not "we have a few too many bugs to handle to get this out on time." This is almost "go back to the drawing board" in an area that will be critical to PCdom during Vista's life cycle.

Yeah, I have seen this. Pretty interesting...
Does anyone remember what happened for XP? Was it delayed and put through the same criticism as Vista is now?

Alot of people saw no need for XP at the time since 98se worked just fine. I see no need for anything new either unless they can get away from the constant patches, which I doubt. Besides who wants to buy a OS just because it's new. I'm sure most everyone is familiar with the problems of ME so I will wait until things are shaken out with Vista and I'll only put it on my gaming machine and use linux or Xp for the others depending on the circumstances at the time.

Yeah, I think the "If it aint broken, don't fix it" mentality will be a key player in the short term success or failure of Vista.

I gotta give them some credit for spending more time attempting to get it right.

Well, yeah, they better frickin' get it right!
What I don't like though is that they are delaying the date. If it's not ready, then don't set a date you can't reasonaly hit. Too bad release date delays seem to have become more and more common

I read somewhere ( Don't remember now ) that they still plan on releasing it to corporations before then. I wonder what the companies think of that.

It might just end up to be more problems for them because alot of software that they might be using will no longer be compatabile or may have problems. Corporations may also be getting a more stable version though.

Stable and Microsoft doesn't compute.
