Default Virtual CD/DVD

I saw Halutparilla's thread about creating virtual drives to mount CDs and DVDs. Since I only have one DVD drive I too am getting tired of the constant "put a new disk in" bit for gaming.

At the time Daemon Tools seemed to be hands-down favorite. I see now that they still offer a free version. Is that still the recommendation of the experts on this forum?

Thats what I use, and I have no problems with it. The ability to emulate key copyright protections really comes in handy for a few games I have with Nazi-grade protection and constant disc checking; saves on the wear of the drive and DVD itself. Just avoid Starforce games as usual, it tends to try and kill Daemon Tools, Alcohol 60-120%, Nero, and anything else of the like.

Daemon Tools hands down. The newest version, obviously. I recommend to go slowly through the initial setup and NOT install the sponsor, which is just spyware.

I use Alcohol 120% easier to use then Daemon tools, and an all around better program.

1) Not free after 30 days
2) Not as good against new protections

Yea, hands down probably the best, and the new updates DO have everything that Daemon does, plus with Alcohol 120% you can emulate as many drives as you want, but as mentioned, it is not a free program!

All you do is convert the cd to an .ISO using CloneCD (Google it) and then mount it using daemon tools. I have used it with my Starcraft CD and it's GREAT! no more LOUD cd spins in my case.

Goodluck
