Why do you hate it? XP is worthless with out it now. What you could do is find SP1 and install that on top. Not sure if that will do what your asking for.

In my Add/Remove Programs I have the option to uninstall SP2, but I installed it after I installed windows. You may not have that option.

I believe that you can uninstall it if you archived the files. Not sure if that's done when it's on the install disc.

Unless you're a seasoned hacker, the answer is no. I read Microsoft's press release myself. There is no way to uninstall SP2; the only way to get rid of it is to reinstall XP SP1/No SP.

Why do you hate it, anyway?? Like Hitman said, XP's worthless without it. Besides, SP2 is basically just all of the updates you'd have to download automatically after you install XP without a service pack. SP2 just saves the download time.

Yuri is pretty much right. You can DL SP2 for IT PRo wich is what I do. So its one DL. But SP enables support for USB2, Enhances Wireless, and support for HDs over 140GB. I am wondering whats wrong with it.? Unless you like spyware.

No, I know SP1 makes WinXP practically useless, but as far as I knew SP2 is just that firewall thing and some extra security stuff; no real signifigant patches of anykind. Is this correct thinking?

I hate it because it always flashes up that stupid frickin little ballon in the bottom tray when you change any of the settings to anything than what it considers acceptable. I guess I can live with SP2 if there is a way to stop if from popping that stupid little notification balloon all the time telling you to "check the settings".

I have two Windows XP Pro disks, one has SP1 and the other has SP2.

open up your security center. Once that is open, on the left side of the screen, there is a statement at the bottom of the list that says change the way security center alerts me. Open that up and uncheck all 3 boxes! That will get rid of any ballons
