Default Ubuntu Linux

setup same as my signature, difference OS = Using Ubuntu 6.10

can't install any driver from my D975XBX board, tried the Intel website nada...

need help appreciate it guys...

are you sure your board came with Linux drivers...? Because windows driverrs dont work on linux

nope my board didn't come with linux drivers... and i know windows driver don't work in linux...

i'm having headache literally trying to get the ubuntu work...

Actually, Windows drivers can be used in Linux, though I'd avoid that approach at all cost.

Precisely what drivers do you need? What specifically isn't working?

Usually WiFi drivers


Put it this way, if it works, dont fix it.

actually all drivers, Intel Audio Studio, LAN drivers and others... annoying really when i want to do something different tends to be difficult and confusing, though i like the setup of ubuntu...

i can't play mp3 can't play mpeg4 and all of my music and videos, and can't detect the other half of the disk, i can't install steam, total chaos , i'm using my 120gb seagate that has backupfiles on it, half was partitioned for the use of ubuntu then half for backup...

any suggestion on how to set this thing up...

The MPEG codecs were left out for legal reasons. In Fedora, they can be installed easily via yum install gstreamer. I'm not sure about Ubuntu since I don't use it.

When you say "can't detect the other half of the disk", I assume you mean you can't read your NTFS partition. You'll need to install linux-3g for that.

As for Steam, you have to install Wine first so you can run Windows programs. You'll also need to install the Tahoma font for Steam.

If you're willing to switch to Fedora, I could walk you through it. It's a lot easier than Ubuntu.
