Default System Maintenance: Clean Desktop - Clean Performa

This article is one in a series of articles on Basic System Maintenance. In these articles, HL not only covers what to maintain, but why and how.

Henry David Thoreau once wrote, “Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity I say, let your affairs be as two or three, and not a hundred or a thousand; instead of a million count half a dozen, and keep your accounts on your thumb nail.” It’s advice that can not only make you feel better, but actually improve the performance of your system.

Now, the Manta is known for some of his award winning dis-organizational habits. One of them is the big no-no of using the computer desktop as a work and testing space.

No I didn't know about "Wally"

Yeah...desktop being dirty can make a noticeable difference in performance. Though, most of it is reflected in boot times. The less memory you have, the worse the effect.
