| Hey guys, I need some help trying to install SuSE 10.2 on my system. Ubuntu-Alternate CD installs fine, but trying SuSE, it freezes during the installer-start up process. I tried installing it on another computer, then putting the HD in my computer, but now I get an operating no found error Opteron 64 165--1.5GB DDR--ECS KA1 MVP(thanks HL!)--x1800GTO 256MB--Seagate 320GB SATA--Antec 550 Watt--Antec P180 | ||||||||||||||

| I'd try what blake said and make sure that hard disk with suse on it is set to boot, but I doubt it will if that other comp has different setup. Make sure its the latest version as well. | What version are you using x64 or x32? I have had issues with the x64 version doing weird things. The 32bit version works just fine for me. Blake might have a point too, it could be bad media. You're getting the no OS error because you system isn't looking for the right drive to boot off of. | ||||||||||||||

| I tried installing SuSE 10.2 x32 on my Opteron system, but it froze before hitting the installer. So I took my hard drive, and brought it over to my duron rig, it fired up, and installed + ran fine. Putting the hard drive back in my rig, and disconnecting all other drives resulted in an OS not found error. Then later, I tried the hard drive in another Athlon XP computer, and SuSE booted up without a hitch. | Ubuntu works. I think its the other way around. My motherboard doesn't like Linux. Opteron 64 165--1.5GB DDR--ECS KA1 MVP(thanks HL!)--x1800GTO 256MB--Seagate 320GB SATA--Antec 550 Watt--Antec P180 | ||||||||||||||

| Suse and Debian are different though. Not to mention one distro may have driver support for a motherboard that another distro doesn't. | Yeah I know, the replies I got at the SuSE forums seem to be pointing towards an APCI bug in bios. Opteron 64 165--1.5GB DDR--ECS KA1 MVP(thanks HL!)--x1800GTO 256MB--Seagate 320GB SATA--Antec 550 Watt--Antec P180 | ||||||||||||||
