Yet even less of a reason to get a Mac. Is apple trying everything they can to not get people to buy their stuff?

Ok, just downloaded the beta and using it now to browse, I really like it. The book marks are the best part, they are easy to access, easy to organize, and I really like the layout. It's simplicity at it's best.

It won't let me stay signed in to HL. Weirdest thing.

Firefox all the way!

While I'm not having that problem, I am noticing other browsing problems. Backgrounds don't display correctly, gmail doesn't work, and there seems to be some delays on page loads. I really like it and when they get the kinks worked out I'll consider switching to it. For now I'm gonna keep Firefox.

It may be a Vista-related problem, unless you too are running Vista.

Also, on the HL main page, the some parts of the writing aren't. It's hard to explain, there is a minor break in the alignment. At the end of the day, it's clearly a BETA. When it's fully worked out, I'm definitely switching. I much prefer Safari over any other web browser.

And the image problems are prominent in quite a few cases. Not ready for hardcore use yet.

I'm giving a try ATM. So far, I'm kind of so-so with it, I like it, and it does seem faster in a few areas over FF, but I still enjoy the functionality of FF. Not ot mention FF seems to be more responsive than Safari. I'm going to keep playing with it though, its too early to give it a true verdict.

EDIT - I used my dual monitors to compare FF and Safari side. I sent them both through a gauntlet of pages to load, and Safari loaded nearly every page faster, even though I normally gave FF about a .5s head start. And so far I haven't run into any issues whatsoever, gmail works great, flashes and movies at youtube load faster, etc. etc.

I think they'll definitely get lots of support from people who currently use iTunes, but I don't think they'll steal anyone away from Firefox until they at least implement some sort of extension system.

I dunno, I've never been a big extension user myself, all I want in a browser is a clean appearance, functionality, and organization of bookmarks. Thats the one thing that safari seems to have, an easy bookmark system. I've never liked firefox's bookmark organization, it's too much like IE. For me Safari will work great when it's finally ready, but I imagine most people will still stick to firefox, the extensions are really popular and I can't see anybody unseating their already huge library of extensions.
