Default Question about Openoffice vs. Office2007 review

hi, I have a question about that review. In the review, Josh said that OpenOffice's graph rendering system was not that great, and he talked about how good Office2k7's rendering system was. I'm a bit confused by that considering OpenOffice DOES have a 3D Graph rendering system that can make some pretty good looking graphs and charts. Heres an example. I'm running version 2.0.4, and he uses 2.0.2, but I don't think a whole new renderer could be implemented in just a small version change. I think it might be worth a look at...

In my experiences creating graphs for reviews and other projects, Office is much easier to use than Open Office. Its also my opinion that Open Office's graphs are not nearly as nice.....I'm sure with some tinkering you could make graphs that you are happy with, but "out of the box" Office's graphs are much better

I hate to say this, but OOo is less powerful than Office 2007 in most of the aspects of office-work. Only thing better is that its free and Portable OOo is a great idea.

I agree with you guys, but in the review, just only showed the junky looking 2D graphs, but right when you create a graph, it asks if you want to make it in 2D or 3D, I thought that would at least be worth mentioning in the review

I considered every type of graph in the review. Office 2007 won by a landslide in every one (for out-of-the-box graphics.. no added graphics). The graphs in OO are rather rough and use dull colors. Office 2007 had very sophisticated graphics, like the one in the screenshot, for every type of graph. It has very beautiful gradients and such. But like Rich said, OO could be made to look like that, but it'd take a bit of extra work, which is why I gave that point to Microsoft.

Shakes head to clear cobwebs, can't believe Yuri found something that MS does better than free software.
