| I told everyone I would be asking more questions. And here's another question. I make Icons with GIMP but I've learnt to do them through Photoshop, and I've got a request from somone who wishes for me to make an Icon that is a slideshow of images. I'd like to know if anyone knows of a program, proferably free or easy to download off limewire, to be able to make moving icons and slideshow icons ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks. xxFrostyxx | ||||||||||||||

| I know in GIMP you can make animated GIFs. Like I did in my sig. I am not sure if this is what you're looking for. You can adjust the animation speed so it looks like a slide show. | ||||||||||||||

| I may be off target with this but as to an animated icon the only images that will support animation are .gif files. They can be used in a variety of applications to include some of the avatars you see members here using. Now an icon that is used as an icon carries the .ico file extension. Icons such as desktop icons for example are .ico files. The .ico file type does not support animation. Thinking back I once did quite a bit with animated .gif files. I created most of them in Animation Shop when it was a part of Paint Shop Pro which was then by JASC software. I believe it is now under Corel? Not sure as it has been awhile. Originally Animation Shop 3.0 was a part of PSP under the JASC name. However, now I believe they actually market Animation Shop 3.0 as a seperate bundle to compliment PSP. All here nor there. Most animations are easily created as mentioned already using a variety of software programs. A few free and some paid. To create an animated icon or what you seem to want a slide show you would simply open an empty animation and insert your sized images as frames. For example create an animation with 10 empty frames. Then insert your images. Then set your timing. The downside of this is that you will save as a .gif file to support the animation aspect. You can't save the file with an .ico file extension. | Hitman, you're signature is what I was looking to create. LOL not you're signature persay, I've been asked to make an Icon using a variety of images and have a comment in between each one. I didn't realize that GIMP had an animation side to it, that's why I was asking about programs. I knew that Photoshop had Imageready attached to it because I had it with my Photoshop and i loved using it. Do you know of any tutorials for making .gif's in GIMP? That would be alot of help. Ron, yea I know how to make a .gig [depending on the program] and the diff between .gif's and Icon's. I was trying to find software [proferably free] to actually make them as I've had to learn to use GIMP when I use to have Photoshop and Imageready [not anymore.] But thank you for trying to help, it's much appriciated. xxFrostyxx | ||||||||||||||

| In gimp you add the layers you want to animate, then go to filters, then animation. You have to play around with it til you get it how you want it. A little hint if you layer the same image on top of it's self several times it slows down the frames. | ||||||||||||||

| Creating an animation in GIMP is a little different than most software designed to do nothing more than an animation. Like Hitman says, you use layers to get the effect. These are a few basic tutorials on exactly what Hitman mentions applying a layer technique: GIMP - Simple Animations lf51, Graphics: Creating and Editing Animations with GIMP [tutorial](gap)advanced Animation Simplified Working with those should get you going. You are creating layers and then using them as frames. Ron | ||||||||||||||

| I've seen the GAP program on the GIMP website and I was just wondering to I have to download that to be able to use it or is it already in the GIMP program that I've got installed? And thanks guys, this a massive big help. You'll notice that most of the time I'll be asking questions about GIMP since I'm still learning on it. ![]() Ron, I'll deffinitely be checking out [and bookmarking] those links your provided...and thanks so much for them. xxFrostyxx | ||||||||||||||
