Default OSX?

Ok so i was talking with the accompianist here, and he was building a computer for use with OSX. Now i know not all hardware works with OSX, but if one was so inclined to use OSX over Windows, what hardware works with it? Like will the new wave of gpus work with it as well as last year's wave and all of the nifty mobos, like will OSX recognize (primarily) windows based hardware?

As far as CPUs go, I believe any CPU based off the x86 Architecture will work. And anything supported by Linux/Unix will probably work with OSX, since both OSX and Linux are Unix Based.

Also:

no hardware is based off windows. Windows is based off the hardware, same with Linux and OSX

nVidia video cards don't support QE and CI, something you'll need to run FCP (there are ghetto ways around this). ATI's support it straight up.

The major problem is wireless cards and audio drivers. Check the hardware compatibility guides over here and make sure your motherboard carries a working chipset.

I know because I dual-boot XP and OSX.

Apple uses proprietary hardware. You can't just build any old AMD64 machine and expect OS X to run on it. It doesn't work that way. They use the same CPUs now, but that's basically the extent of their compatibility (heck I'm not even sure if they use the same pin keying). Whatever internal hardware you get for use with OS X must come from an Apple store.

Did you completely miss my post Yuri? I'm running OSX flawlessly on my Dell.

NewEgg has Apple hardware in their Apple & Mac section, but if you're building a Mac, be sure not to buy parts from any other section of their website.

I still don't think you're getting it. OSX runs fine on non-Apple components. It just depends on the configs.

I read your post, and what you're running is illegal. We do not condone such activities, and discussing wares is a good way to get a thread locked.
