| Functional Alcoholic | For you Linux guys that use a real distro instead of Noobuntu, Opensuse 11.0 has been released, Software.openSUSE.org I installed it this weekend and its pretty nice. The GUI installer is well, very windows like. Haven't played around with it too much, but so far it looks pretty good. |

| oh noes | I've tried opensuse 10.3 and fedora 9... neither of them worked that well for me. Never could get the ati drivers to work with 10.3 on my laptop.... gonna have to give 11 a try on my desktop here though. ![]() e8500@4ghz|Asus P5k-e WiFi| 4gb OCZ ReaperX|2x 3870's|1.3tb storage space|MSI tv tuner. |

| oh noes | Hahaha, touche. In the ati card's defense, it works very well with ubuntu... but dangit if I couldn't find a driver that would run compiz without crashing and still be compatible with opensuse. ![]() e8500@4ghz|Asus P5k-e WiFi| 4gb OCZ ReaperX|2x 3870's|1.3tb storage space|MSI tv tuner. |

| We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | you wanna see problems? Try using a dual GPU card in Linux. ATI's response was that their Crossfire cards aren't meant for Linux.......which is fine.....at least make it so they function in Linux though. ![]() My favorite distro of the moment has to be Kubuntu. Easy like Ubuntu, without the Gnome disgusting lack of speed. :P | |

| socket 939 junkie | you know, ive had ubuntu and kubuntu on my system and i had no issues with my cards in crossfire. i was able to use either OS on a daily basis. honestly i didnt try anything more graphic intensive than trying to get the desktop effects to work (they didnt) sadly i cant give it a shot for ya'll as i believe one of my 3870's is going bad. constant bsods every time catalyst tries to load at start up. took one card out and havent seen the issue since :( |

| Functional Alcoholic | The most graphically intensive game I have run in Linux was Quake 4 natively. It runs very well in Linux giving FPS about an average of 10FPS higher then with the same machine running WinXP. The only main issue was Punkbuster, it just did not want to update. I finally was able to do in manually, but that’s a real PITFA, and who wants to do that everytime a PB update comes out. I read in some random forum that someone got COD4 to run natively in Linux, but I can’t find a how-to or a step by step anywhere on the internet. All I can find is how to run it in Wine. Forget that I would rather just run it in Windows. |
