Question new desktop icon

An odd desktop icon has appered on my comp. it looks like the 'my computer' icon but has a big I in a ring by it and its called initdebug. when i click it it says; 'system infomation cannot open this NFO file. it might be a corrupt or unrecognized version.' so I press ok and it takes me to the system infomation page.

what is this thing? i dont want to deleate it because its not a shortcut.

Right click >> Open With... >> Notepad

Does it open that way with Notepad? If so, what does it say in there?

Icon as in Icon or Icon as in Shortcut Icon?

A Google turned a bunch of hits but nothing really informative.

Did you install Speedfan lately? ;)
You can delete the file if you installed Speedfan. The initdebug.nfo file is created by the Give I/O service when it install, service that Speedfan uses to get values from thermal sensors.

Yeah, when I installed Speedfan, that appeared on my desktop, too. I just deleted it and it was fine.

I uninstalled speedfan, but the icon stayed. Mabye just restart would help. but I played with it and after I wanted to pack it => winrar -> right click on that icon and chose "add to archive..." winrar gave me error and the icon disappeared :-)))

From HERE

Quote:
The initdebug file is an information file and was created by one of the applications on the computer. Since it uses msinfo32 to view itwhen you try and open it you will start msinfo32. Since the file is 0 bytes you can't read it and hence the error message. Just delete the file.

Thanks HL and Corsair!
