Need Voice Recording Software

i am in need of voice recording software that will have the recording in MP3 format so i can transfer the recordings to ipod just like an audio book . and ofcourse it should be free.

Audacity! You need to download another plug-in to export to MP3, though. It's free too.

Well u just need the LAME encoder.

But yes, Audacity is THE audio recorder/editor for people who love good programs that are free.

yeah the audacity was awesome my wife have been using it for four days now, when i accidentally found it in google... the down side i have a studio apartment and when she record i cant sleep...

in windows:
Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment -> Sound Recorder
record it, save to WAV file and then use something like Audacity or EAC to convert to MP3
Not sure if there is a time limitation with that though, may be better to just use Audacity

there is a time limitation when i used that sound recorder so i'm sticking with audacity...

yea, with Sound Recorder u have to press record every 30 seconds to keep it continuous.
