Default Microsoft announces specs for Windows Vista

Thats actually not that bad. Definately not as high as I thought it would be. By the looks of it though, lots of midrange consumers will be pissed off when they want to upgrade to the hyped up vista. I can just see it, they'll come home and find out it doesn't work.

that ain't all that bad. I thought they might need a better cpu. However, 15gigs is alot of space.

64Mb to support 1440x900...Windows XP only needs a 2MB card to display 1024x768...

All my thoughts too. It looks like a lot of this required power comes from unnecessarily rendered effects for functions that really don't need such visual enhancements. The first that comes to mind is the "Flip3D"...

Thats pretty cool. But honostly, after a year or so, I would just end up disabling it. Just like in WinXP, I run it themeless.

Vista is going to want 15gb hdd space. That's what, 7 times what XP takes up?

XP uses an average 1GB per installation, so 15x more
