From what i've been told, XP/MCE = XP/Pro + MC .

And no I don't think you can get the MC addon for pro by itself.

Good description of MCE. I just switched to Pro and really miss the media functions of MCE - just so convenient and easy to use since all media programs are integrated into one system.

The only way to get MCE is to buy a media center computer or buy an OEM version of the entire program - no upgrade version is available.

Close, MCE still doesn't have all of the network features, but if you don't use them you won't miss them.

It doesn't have remote desktop, one should take note of that. Sure, lots of people use whatever VNC but once you try remote desktop there's no comming back.

Thats not true, it does. I didn't think it did, but I just checked my wifes computer running MCE and it has remote desktop.

I swear the copy I installed didn't. And yes, it was an original. Unless they hid it somewhere, it really didn't.

Well let's see, when I network the computers; my computer running XP Pro is usually not accessable by anyone unless I password it, even though it's shared.

My son's computer, I network, share, then find his machine using mine, no issues accessing stuff.

Media Center to me is a fancy version of XP Home.

Yes to remote desktop - system - under the remote tab - and all the options in admin tools.
