| This is just for future reference in case someone else needs to get their windows disk replaced. If you have a OEM version of windows but have lost your disk you can call: 1-866-230-0560 They will send you a replacement disk, but you have to pay a $30 shipping/replacement fee. The only information you need is the 14 degit serial # located on the hologram sticker located on the papers that came with your windows disk. (some people put this sticker on their towers.) Hopefully this will save someone else $110. Cause it took some digging and a few dozen phone calls but I was able to finally get ahold of this department and got my windows xp pro disk replaced with almost no hassle. |

| This is good information to know. Thanks for the tip Jesta! For those people that are running Windows Vista and lose their CD (or DVD as the case may be) that has their operating system on it, you can also contact Microsoft and obtain a Vista Anytime Upgrade disc. The disc contains all versions of Windows Vista on it and allows you to install the same version of Vista that you originally purchased. All you have to do then is re-register it with Microsoft online. The disc doesn't cost anything other than a small shipping and handling fee. It's important to point out that you should only install the version of Vista that you purchased; if you don't, you will not be able to register your copy when you need to input your key for the Vista version you bought. Anyway, here's the link: Windows Vista Anytime Upgrade If you are one of those people that don't want to re-register your Vista OS with Microsoft, there is a work around. Check THIS thread out. I've used this method and it is executed perfectly. =) Last edited by garetjax; March 1st, 2008 at 11:45. |
