| Might I say Welcome to the HL forums! The provided link should get you going. Just about any version of XP should be fine as to OEM, Retail, or Upgrade. I would only add that you want to be sure the system you are upgrading has compatible XP Hardware. Sometimes older Windows '98 machines have hardware that is not XP Compatible as well as some software. Just do a little homework prior to starting an XP install to save considerable grief later. Also, when starting the upgrade process after things begin, XP will "see" the prior '98 install. You likely want to focus on the upgrade aspect retaining your original data.
