Default HTML Q&A

Well I've got another question but this time its about html. On my personal website I have a section that is a Spotlight for special writers and their work. Every week I choose one piece of work that I really like and I place it on a page that shows off a month of Spolight Weekly choices. The thing is a want to link to that page...but I want to link from the website to a paragraph on the page....

For Example:

There is a poem called "Lifes Last Drops; Winters First Rain" and I want to use the title to link to the actual poem which sits in the middle of the page. How do I link the title so that it goes to the middle of the page, or the paragraph that the actual poem is on?

If that sounds really confusing I'm sorry I just didn't know how to explain it properly.

Thanks

xxFrostyxx

I believe you want anchors in your text then? kind of an index at the top that when clicked will send you to the part of the page you're looking for?
HTML Links

That should get you going.

Quote:
The Anchor Tag and the Name Attribute

The name attribute is used to create a named anchor. When using named anchors we can create links that can jump directly into a specific section on a page, instead of letting the user scroll around to find what he/she is looking for.
Below is the syntax of a named anchor:
<a name="label">Text to be displayed</a> The name attribute is used to create a named anchor. The name of the anchor can be any text you care to use.
The line below defines a named anchor:
<a name="tips">Useful Tips Section</a> You should notice that a named anchor is not displayed in a special way.
To link directly to the "tips" section, add a # sign and the name of the anchor to the end of a URL, like this:
<a href="http://www.w3schools.com/html_links.asp#tips">
Jump to the Useful Tips Section</a> A hyperlink to the Useful Tips Section from WITHIN the file "html_links.asp" will look like this:
<a href="#tips">Jump to the Useful Tips Section</a>

Yes, an anchor is what you need.
Works just like a regular hyper-link, but instead of targeting
a whole page, it targets a specific spot in a page.

Are you doing your HTML in a text editor, and a WYSIWYG Editor,
and if so which one?

I have a HTML question. How do you insert pics into threads uploaded from your computer?

Talking about how to insert a picture in a forum thread, like in this message?

If so here is the code:

Replace the url with wherever you have the picture located on the internet.

the [ img] and [ /img] tags tell the board that you wish to display an image from the internet.
I placed spaces before the first i and the / so you could see the tags.

I've used Dreamweaver a few times, no expert but I am familiar with it if you get stuck on something. I'm better with Nvu and Front Page.

I used to use FrontPage, but I know use CoffeeCup HTML Editor. Works great for program that I had to pay for. Oh, and I also like using phpHaze. It's great if you want to have a organized website, and don't want to worry about HTML.

I much prefer Dreamweaver over Frontpage. I use Coffee Cup Free FTP for FTP tasks...
