Word's grammer and spell check would work as good as anything. If you were writing a play or a script, it would be different, but there are really no book writing applications I know of (for the actual writing part). There is voice recognition software - you might look at that.
As a failed (well, at least I'm published) writer I can tell you that just writing the book is more important than the grammer parts. Once you have a book written (or at least a complete chapter or three), you have an investment that is worth having worked on. The wife has a company that just ghost edits (a ghost writer writes the book for you). We've never done a full book, but we have done chapters.

Fiction, Fictionalized, and technical only. We do not do fact checking - we do not ghost write - we re-work and ghost edit only. Payment method/amount is agreed on in advance - we will do speculative contracts/co-authoring.

At any rate, I know it's hard - but it can be rewarding.
EDIT - BTW - There are other services out there - look around and look at writer groups. You may find a co-author who will work for a cut.
