Default Ethenet Icon go by by, please

I have 2 ethernet ports on my motherboard and I only use 1. There is a notification down by my clock telling me that there is a ethernet connection unplugged (well of coarse its unplugged becasue I am not using it!! duh (pic of 2 computers with an X threw it)). How do I get rid of this??

this in in XP so if your in vista it may be different. In the control panel go into 'network connections' and in there is the list of all your connections. Find the problematic one, right click and press disable. Should stop everything to do with it then.

yes that worked..... i guess this whole time it was trying to connect..... I never thought of disabling it..... damn,,,,

Yep, or you can just right click the icon down by the clock, then click disable.
