Default CPUz 144 caught by AVG as a virus

EDIT: This is NOT just AVG, it seems at least 4 other major free and paid anti-virus programs are reporting the same problems.

and when trying to open cpuz after this, even if you say ignore:

Cpuz may have become infected. That's a bummer.

AVG makes me weep tears of pain. It may have blocked it from running but just not moved it to the quarantine. I'd try redownloading CPU-Z and running it with AVG disabled.

nope, I do not have a virus... I know that for sure... I did some checking and Avira, Kaspersky, AVG and a few others are doing the exact same thing. I bet if you got your updates within the past few days and scan the folder that has the CPUz 1.44.1 file in it, it will be caught by your anti-virus.

You're right, just tried it. Stupid heuristics...

Better a false alert than an antivirus not picking anything up.

true... lets you know its working but kind of caught me off guard... just out of the blue picked it up and I had not even opened the folder or file. For now I just set that file as an exception in Avira and AVG...

yup, I just downloaded it and AVG said it straight away. I didnt even know that it scaned things straight after downloading it. It doesnt do it on my older CPUz-141.

it could have been infected without the makers of cpu-z knowing, in which case, would be TERRIBLE because I love and swear by cpu-z.

or it could be the way the new one functions.
